AZ Chins Rescue
Members
To help with rescues and emergencies!
Please contact the following people only if you need to find a home for an unwanted chinchilla, need emergency help or have questions about chinchillas and their care. Most are not breeders and do not have chinchillas for sale! They just want to make sure that chinchillas in their areas have a place to go when there is a family emergency or a chinchilla needs a home. Eventually it would be nice to have at least one contact in every state to help people out all over the United States with chinchilla issues.
Our primary concern is that all chinchillas are safe and well cared for. We will be there when we are needed and won't judge anyone because they need to give up their chinnies. Surrendering a chin can be a very hard thing and we will try to be as understanding about the situation as possible.
If you are looking to buy or adopt a chinchilla, please visit the AZ Chinchilla Breeder page or, for a rescue chin, AZ Chins Rescue. Places like www.chins-n-quills.com or www.chinsandgliders.com have chinchilla classifieds. Chincare.com is another resource that may be very valuable in placing or finding rescue chins.
Please contact me at rescues@azchins.com if you would like to become an AZ Chins Rescue Member. This list is not just for people in Arizona, I will put up the names and information for anyone wanting to help out chinchillas. Also, this is not just about taking in chinchillas, it can mean a lot of work. Being a rescuer can mean needing to take chins to the vet and helping out sick chinchillas, please consider this very carefully. Thanks!

Chincare's Responsible Breeding and Pet Ownership Page
Without the efforts of responsible breeders problems such as genetic defects and over-population of chinchillas are very real consequences. Breeding for health and the improvement of chinchillas should be the primary concerns of all chinchilla breeders and ranchers. Chinchilla rescue organizations and volunteers wouldn't be at all necessary if people just considered the consequences before breeding or adopting their chinchillas.
Breeders, Ranchers and Chinchilla pet owners all have responsibility in preventing problems with over-population and disease in domestic chinchillas. Take responsibility for your actions! Do not breed unless you are willing to deal with all the problems that can arise from it. Do not buy or adopt a chinchilla unless you know all that is entailed in doing so. DO YOUR RESEARCH and ASK QUESTIONS! Chinchillas are not right for everyone, please be sure that they are right for you BEFORE you take on the responsibility.
This page is dedicated to all the animal rescuers out there that have made the world a better place for chinchillas and other animals through their tireless efforts and sacrifice. Thank you for helping!
